J. Life Sci. Biomed., 3(5): 318-327, 2013.

ABSTRACT: Water resources management in the arid regions is of particular importance. This issue is considered of great importance especially in urban areas with respect to urban development in the recent years. On this basis and for management of water resources of the city of Bandar Abbas, district no. 1 of the urban area was selected with an area of approximately 2,760 acres which is fed by four upstream watersheds. Then the area was divided into 57 hydrological units by GISARC software. Forty eight main irrigation channels were identified in these areas and their specifications were recorded. Also the area, the latitude and longitude, Manning’s roughness coefficient and the percentage of permeability and impermeability were determined for each hydrological unit and the obtained results were entered into the SWMM model. The two-year return-period precipitations derived from Bandar Abbas synoptic station were also entered to the model to take advantage of the urban runoff. With the implementation of the model, the total urban runoff volume of district no. 1 of Bandar Abbas was determined 297,241 cubic meters which discharges to the Persian Gulf through four outputs. Also thirty five critical water supplying channels were identified by investigating the transport capacity of the water supplying channels. Therefore, considering the average water requirement and the location of the urban green spaces, it is possible to supply the required water for more than 70 acres of urban green space from urban runoff. Thus in case of reforming the urban drainage network, the urban green space in Bandar Abbas can be developed by using the urban runoff.

J. Life Sci. Biomed., 3(5): 328-334, 2013.

ABSTRACT: Sugarcane is one of the most important major economic plants under cultivation in Iran. Heavy equipment and the intensive use of machinery can cause to soil compaction in sugarcane fields. An on-farm experiment was conducted in 45 km south of Khuzestan province Amir Kabir Agro-industry to assess implications of alleviating soil compaction in wheel tracks under the zonal tillage production system. In order to studying quantity of compaction in soil depth layers in two ages of ratoon 3rd and 6th, cone penetrometer was used for soil resistance measurement. Values were determined by using variograms maps of variable produced by kriging technique. Geostatistical software (GS+5.1, 2001; Gamma Design Software) was used to construct semi variograms and spatial structure analysis for variables fields. results showed differences were found both in soil depth and percentage of soil penetrometer resistance values ≥ 2 MPa and results shows differences between 0-60cm soil depth in furrows of 3rd and 6th ratoon are very obvious than 61-80cm of soil depth. In 31-60 cm of soil depth resistance in both ratoon field have increased and usage of mechanical loosening techniques subsoiling to remove soil compaction is necessary. In general combination of geostatics data with primary analysis can assist agricultural mechanization studies field and Knowledge on the spatial distribution of the penetration resistance can be helpful in identifying zones with soil compaction (strength) problems and development management options that minimize crop production risks and the harmful impact of traffic on the environment. Original Research, C66

Parvin, A., Keshavarz haddad, GH &. Abbasnejad, T.

J. Life Sci. Biomed., 3(5): 376-381, 2013.

ABSTRACT: Risk measurement is a problem occupies the mind of researchers for many years. Various approaches have been developed in this area. These approaches can be divided in three categories, parametric, semi parametric and nonparametric based on statistical techniques used in. Risk measures quantify risk in the frame of these approaches. Among the risk measures, value-at-risk is a new one. In this study, we examine the performance of parametric value-at-risk in forecasting Tehran price and dividend index risk. The result of value at-risk models back testing indicated that the models in which the return and volatility dynamics are considered, have better performance than others. In this study these models respectively include arma and garch. The other result shows that the models which are flexible in attribution of distribution to data such pot have much better performance in forecasting index risk. On the other hand, the average waiting time for an index to present a daily return below the 0.01 threshold is 3 days and also, in a fixed period of time, the probability of observing during a minimum daily return above the 0.01 threshold, during the next day, is 27 present.
